John Hart was granted land by William Penn for a farm. His property had an acre set aside for a Quaker cemetery (early Quaker burials include the father & grandfather of Dr. Benjamin Rush.). When Hart moved to Hartsville (Bucks County), he donated the plot to Byberry Township for burial of the poor, including those served by Saint Katherine Drexel. Burials took place from approximately 1697 to 1860. The plot has been neglected for decades and is now trashed and overgrown.
